Best Accommodations in Austin and The Texas Hill Country

Are you planning a trip to Austin or the Texas Hill Country and looking for the best places to stay? Texas Tipsy Tours is very experienced in planning ideal tour itineraries- and we have picked up in many different locations. We frequently are asked for our recommendations on the best Austin and the Texas Hill Country accommodations. We’ve put together a list of our favorite and most popular places to sit back and relax during your stay.

Top Hill Country Locations:

  • Driftwood/Dripping Springs, Texas– The “Gateway” to the Texas Hill Country, featuring many wineries, breweries, and distilleries, as well as stunning hill country views. Here you will find some fabulous restaurants and great b&bs, but the nightlife is rather slim. Dripping Springs is about 45 minutes from downtown Austin and Uber or Lyft is not readily available.
  • Wimberley, Texas– A picture-perfect Texas Hill Country town with a cute downtown with shopping and dining options. Again, nightlife here is very limited, but a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. About an hour from downtown Austin, and again- rideshares are not easily accessible from here.
  • Blanco, Texas– A small Texas town with a few dining options, and a great rental house, located about 45 minutes from Fredericksburg. The pace is certainly slower in Blanco!
  • Fredericksburg, Texas– This German town is the hub of the Texas Wine Trail, featuring beautiful estate vineyards, great boutique shopping, many fabulous restaurants, and even more wine-tasting rooms.
  • Kyle, Texas– About 30 minutes or less from Dripping Springs/Driftwood, and home to the fabulous Sage Hill Inn. Everything, including dining, nightlife, and shopping is a drive from here, and rideshare is not readily available, but Sage Hill Inn offers all you would need- with a restaurant, spa and pool.
  • Bee Caves, Texas– Beautiful rolling hills and home to many impressive b&bs and rental homes. Great dining and bars within the drivable distance. About 30 minutes from downtown Austin.
  • Austin, Texas– Keepin’ it weird. There are many different areas to stay and explore while in Austin:
    • Central/Downtown Austin– You are guaranteed walking distance to great bars (Rainey Street, 6th Street, West Sixth, East Sixth, etc.), fine dining, and attractions.
    • North Austin (The Domain area): The Domain is a large outdoor mall area with great restaurants and bars, all within walking distance. However, extra time may be required on tours, as it is further from downtown Austin.
