Hawk’s Shadow Winery – Dripping, Springs
These ladies began their Austin Sunday Funday starting at Hawk’s Shadow Winery in the Texas Hill Country. Here, the group got a behind the scenes view of Harvest season. Kourtney led the group through the ins and outs of Hawk’s Shadow production, after harvest. The group “punched down” (incredibly difficult to do, too!!) Hawk’s Shadow’s many bins of grapes- stems an all, and even tried those grapes! Hawk’s Shadow offers one of the best educational experiences in the Texas Hill Country, being that its’ small family-owned winery and the tasting staff is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their craft and wine!
Hawk’s Shadow has one of the best views of the Texas Hill Country, sitting on top of a hill. We have even helped coordinate a proposal here on one of our own tours. Hawk’s Shadow has played host to several other Texas Hill Country proposals. When you see these views, you will understand why!
Hawk’s Shadow also offers Texas’ only completely underground cellar. Carved straight down into the land, Hawk’s Shadow’s cellar holds their many barrels (check out their barrel tastings, too, for a unique experience!).
Treaty Oak Distillery- Dripping, Springs
Treaty Oak Distillery is a favorite of all of our groups who visit because it truly has something for everyone. Whether you are looking for wine, beer or liquor- Treaty Oak produces it all! That’s right. Treaty Oak is the only Texas winery, brewery AND distillery. Treaty Oak’s claim to fame is certainly their Bourbon & Gin. The ladies at Stuff to do in Austin took the Distillery Tour, which is chock-full of information pertaining to Austin history, Texas Bourbon history and of course, production of the spirit itself- complete with a cocktail to kick off the tour, tastings throughout the process, and tastings of the spirits at the end!
Treaty Oak also offers my favorite BBQ in the Texas Hill Country. This is the best spot for lunch while on tour, and a favorite of our groups, especially the ladies at Stuff to do in Austin. With frequent live music, acres of space and outdoor seating, as well as several different bars and tasting areas, Treaty Oak is a must-visit.
